It first closed because of a product recall reportedly, but now this Illinois plant will close forever which means 500 workers will sadly lose their jobs.

Yahoo Finance shared the news of a plant that has been in Danville, Illinois for many years. It's the Quaker plant at 1703 E Voorhees St in Danville which alerted workers last week that they were being laid off and the plant was closing for good.

Food Business News reported that the plant business was seriously hurt by a product recall late last year which caused a 19% drop in profits leading to the plants closure.

There is hope that the facility can be used to create a new business and jobs for Danville, Illinois as WCIA is reporting that the governor's office has been in contact with ownership and would be trying to figure out how to keep such a large facility in that part of Illinois as a place for employment.

There is no word at this time if this will be the only Quaker plant closure or if more are to follow. All that is known as of this writing is there are 500 Danville, Illinois workers that need employment.
