With no major changes to the list (and no surprise) Walmart once again tops the list of retailers for 2023. In the new report released by the National Retail Federation, Walmart had $499.65 billion in sales in 2023, with 156 locations just in Missouri, It's not a big shocker. What surprised me was what retailer came in second.

Although, Amazon has no "box" stores in most states (there are a few stand-alone stores in bigger cities) the online giant came in second to Walmart (not even close to first place) with $232.46 billion in sales.

Even though Walmart had a huge year, numbers are down for the company. According to the 2022 report, Walmart generated over $600 billion while Amazon brought in over $340 billion that year. So you can say people aren't spending as much as they did the year before, but they are still spending.
