The travel experts at Booking.com (booking dot...YA!) have named Chicago, Illinois as one of the Top 5 US Cities to Celebrate Labor Day Weekend. Chicago is on the list with New York City, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Portland, what makes Chicago one of the best places to celebrate the holiday weekend? On their site, they say...

"Chicago has long lured music lovers to its windy shores, and Labor Day weekend puts music front and center. The Chicago Jazz Festival (beginning September 1st and ending on September 4th this year) is a free festival dedicated to jazz legends and contemporary greats...It doesn’t end there though – live music at Navy Pier over the weekend is the perfect accompaniment to the annual Labor Day fireworks display. And no trip to Navy Pier would be complete without a bite to eat – the Great American Lobster Fest runs from September 2nd to September 4th this year, and is the Midwest’s largest lobster and seafood festival."

As a former Chicagoan (and forever lover of the Windy City) I appreciate that Booking focused on the festivals happening in Chicago during Labor Day Weekend. Because those are truly some of the best excuses to make a trip to Chicago during the summer time. You get the lakefront, the beaches, the riverwalk, the copious restaurants, tourist attractions, and oh ya don't forget the festivals! Chicago is a great place to spend Labor Day Weekend, take it from me, and booking.com.
