Hannibal even has local legends buried in cemeteries throughout the town. Including Samuel Clemens' (Mark Twain) parents John and Jane Clemens both buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Samuel Cross who was a prominent early settler and businessman in Hannibal, and Warren G. Wood who was an inventor and entrepreneur is also buried in Hannibal.
