New Year’s Eve ‘party animals’ in Missouri means something completely different than the wild, end-of-year revelry you may be used to. You can get in your new year excitement early on the final day of the year at the Kansas City Zoo.

At the zoo in Kansas City, there is a December 31st tradition that has been going on for over a decade. Zoo Year’s Eve lets you celebrate the end of the year, and the beginning of the next with some of the zoo animals. Designed for kids and parents, the event runs from 10 a.m. to noon, with the new year countdown culminating at 12 p.m. instead of midnight.

The zoo states that some of the animals will be getting “Special Themed Enrichment”. Does that mean special treats for animals that will be on hand for the event? Perhaps. Does that mean an elephant with a champagne glass hoisted high in the air, a chimpanzee with a party hat and toy horn, or penguins line dancing? Probably not all that. But, “Special Themed Enrichment” is something out of the ordinary. Zoo Year’s Eve provides a unique way for families who love animals and the zoo to bring in the new year in a wild new way.
