USA Today ranked some of the best hotels to stay in when traveling during the holidays and one Missouri and one Illinois hotel made the top 10.

The Peninsula Chicago - Chicago, Illinois

Located along the Magnificent Mile this is one of the most luxurious hotels if I've ever seen one. It is perfectly located right in the middle of the Magnificent Mill one block from the landmark Water Tower. It has a pool and spa, and during the holiday season has an ice skating rink. What makes this hotel great is that you can choose a hotel package where you can decorate your room.

Guests can choose to have their very own decorated tree or menorah in their room, enjoy a library of holiday movies and games, and take part in a holiday afternoon tea.

It's magnificent, but it's pricey, and depending on when you stay and for how long can determine how much you pay. Although,  this would make a nice Christmas present for someone.

Big Cedar Lodge - Ridgedale, Missouri

No surprise here. This hotel located in the mountains and close to Table Rock Lake State Park features a spa, eight restaurants, and an indoor/outdoor pool. They call themselves the holiday headquarters with over 2 million lights covering the hotel.

Not only is the property lit up with over 2 million lights, but it also hosts a multitude of holiday festivities including baking with Mrs. Claus, a Gingerbread Build Off, a holiday tram tour, an ice rink, a tree lighting ceremony, and much more.

This one is a little bit affordable and children are welcome to stay. It might be a good place to stay if you need a little break from all the family during the holiday visits.
