At the beginning of every school year, law enforcement reminds students to be cautious. Through the end of September, emphasis will be placed on roadway safety around schools to ensure motorists obey the laws.

The Illinois State Police partner with school districts along with local and county departments just to remind the public to be cautious when driving in and around school zones. A motorist who disobeys a bus stop signal or crossing guard faces a mandatory driver's license suspension upon conviction of the offense.
