I really don't want to start ringing the alarm bells, but this is a reason for concern. Authorities in Illinois have released an official statement saying they are investigating a possible Hantavirus case that is not related to the recent outbreak on the infamous cruise ship.

It's very important to me to not add fuel where there is no fire, so I'll share the exact words from the Illinois Department of Public Health:

"IDPH is investigating a potential Hantavirus case in an Illinois resident not linked to the MV Hondius cruise ship outbreak. The CDC is conducting additional testing to confirm the resident is positive for Hantavirus. CDC staff told IDPH its confirmatory test result could take up to 10 days to complete."

They go on to say that they believe this potential case developed in someone who was cleaning a home where there were rodent droppings. It's VERY IMPORTANT to note that they say that this case of Hantavirus is NOT the kind that is transmitted person-to-person which is different from the cases from the cruise ship which had the Andes virus variation which can be transmitted person-to-person.

As this is a developing story, it will be updated once new and more detailed information is released. In the meantime, do NOT buy up all the toilet paper. Everything's gonna be fine...or I hope everything will be fine.
