Baby Powder in Illinois Recalled Due to Asbestos Contamination
If you've picked up baby powder in Illinois recently, you are going to want to check brands and labels as there's an urgent recall due to the potential contamination with asbestos.
The Food and Drug Administration issued a bulletin warning parents that there is a baby powder under urgent recall due to possible health risk to children because of asbestos. The alert says that asbestos is "a naturally occurring mineral that is often found near talc" which obviously is a key part of many baby powders.
The baby powder is from Dynarex Corporation and it was distributed back in March to Illinois and several other states. Here's what the bottle looks like as shared by the FDA:
Here's the label info shared by the FDA that you need to look for:
"The 4875 Baby Powder is packaged in 14 oz. plastic bottles, 24 bottles to a case, identified as batch/lot number B051, Expiration Date 2026/12/28 (located on the bottom of the bottle)."
The good news is there are no reports of health issues with any children as a result of this issue as of this writing. Make sure to check the full FDA bulletin for complete details about what to do if you find you have this recalled baby powder.
