Jared Schmitz was one of the brave marines killed in the attack in Afghanistan this week. His hometown of Wentzville, Missouri turned out today with hundreds of American flags to honor him.

According to a USA Today report, the US Marines arrived at Mark Schmitz home around 2:40 am Friday morning to let him know his son had been killed in the line of duty. His father said that this was Jared's first deployment in Afghanistan.
