Extreme sport enthusiasts mark your calendars for Saturday July 21. The Hannibal Ramp Park will feature the skills and thrills of local athletes at the annual Ride Cool competition.

The Ramp Park at Huckleberry Park in Hannibal is a top-notch venue for skaters, skateboarders and scooter riders. Kids from neighboring towns drop in to ride the concrete waves. It's a great option for kids to get active rather than living vicariously on their phones and through video games.

Hannibal Parks and Recreation Department and Hannibal Clinic Health Services has put on this competition for several years running now, and it draws entire families to spend the day at the park. Huckleberry is a gem in Hannibal's park system, featuring an 18-hole disc golf course, a ball field, tennis courts, a fishing pond and a playground that has equipment designed to accommodate special needs.

Ride Cool promotes safety among the riders by giving out helmets to the first 200 children starting at 10 a.m.

There will be free entry to the Ramp Park all day. Registration for skateboard, scooter and bike competitions begin at noon. Competitions start at 1 p.m.
Prizes for the competition will be provided by Coolbyke Bicycle Shop and Pedal’rs Bicycle Shop.

Spectators are welcome on shaded bleachers behind the Ramp Park. The Ramp Park concession stand will be open.
