Hannibal Hoots End Their Run in America’s Hometown

The Hannibal Hoots will no longer play at Clemens Field. The organization was forced to consider a number of options including relocation following the devastating floods of 2019. According to a KHQA report, one of those options appears to be O'Fallon, Missouri.Flood damage at Clemens Field forced the team to play the entire season at Q.U. Stadium in Quincy, IL.

Following the season the team worked diligently with City and State Officials to find solutions regarding preventative measures along Bear Creek and in the stadium. No such measures are possible at this time.

Estimated cost of damage inside Clemens Field totals near 1.2 million dollars. Cost of repair to get to minimum standards of play for the Prospect League were calculated at approximately $600,000.

According to Hoots General Manager Matt Stembridge, the City of Hannibal was cooperative and extremely gracious with their efforts to find a solution to return to play in Hannibal in 2020 and beyond. Unfortunately, without a viable location locally the team considered relocation.

A joint press conference with the Prospect League is scheduled for this (Friday)  afternoon to further expand upon the organizations plans moving forward.
