Forbes 400 Richest Americans Lists 15 Illinoisans, 5 Missourians
There's a new 2022 who's who among the wealthy and only 5% call Illinois or Missouri home based on Forbe's richest American's list.
The Forbe's 400 Richest People in America is the definitive look at the wealthiest. While it's no surprise to see Elon Musk at #1 and Jeff Bezos at #2, I did find it interesting to see how many in Illinois and Missouri made the list. The total shows 15 from Illinois and 5 from Missouri. Here they are in order of net worth to show that I'm not playing favorites among the lifestyles of the rich and famous:
Illinois:
21 - Ken Griffin - $30.8 billion
29 - Lukas Walton - $20.5 billion
75 - Patrick Ryan - $8.5 billion
152 - Neil Bluhm - $6.2 billion
184 - Sam Zell - $5.3 billion
190 - Mark Walter - $5.2 billion
202 - Sam Mansueto - $5 billion
224 - Thomas Pritzker - $4.7 billion
252 - Joseph Grendys - $4.2 billion
261 - Ty Warner - $4.1 billion
285 - Elizabeth Uihlein - $3.9 billion
296 - Eric Lefkofsky - $3.8 billion
310 - J.B. Pritzker - $3.6 billion
332 - Steven Sarowitz - $3.3 billion
332 - Carl Thoma - $3.3 billion
351 - Sheldon Lavin - $3.1 billion
359 - Penny Pritzker - $3 billion
Missouri
92 - John Morris - $7.8 billion
110 - Pauline MacMillan Keinath - $7.3 billion
155 - David Steward - $6 billion
303 - Jim Kavanaugh - $3.7 billion
332 - Rodger Riney and family - $3.3 billion
Other than the raw numbers, there are some interesting takeaways from this new 2022 Forbe's richest list. They say for the first time in generations, the rich did not get richer this year. I'm not exactly gonna cry any tears for these executives as I doubt they're gonna have a hard time paying rent this year. Bet they don't even know what rent is unless someone else is paying them some. Do I sound bitter?
Overall, Forbes says that the richest are $500 billion "poorer" this year compared to last. Oh, please.
