Missouri Spring Forecast: Farmer’s Almanac Says Expect Rain
The Old Farmer's Almanac has just released their forecast for Spring 2026 and it's likely to help umbrella sales in Missouri if it's accurate.
The Old Farmer's Almanac (not to be confused the with New Farmer's Almanac that ceased publication at the end of last year) dropped this fun graphic on their social media pages this week.
Here's exactly what the Old Farmer's Almanac forecast for the Heartland region that includes Missouri for Spring 2026:
"In Iowa, Missouri, and eastern Kansas and Nebraska, expect a warm spring (5°F above average in April). Rainfall will be below normal in the north and above normal in the south."
It's important to mention that the top northern quarter of Missouri may be drier than normal while the bottom 75% is soaked. Where you live in the state will make a big difference if the Old Farmer's Almanac is right about Spring.
While I'm a big fan of the 5 degrees warmer than normal for April concept, I have many farmer friends and family who might be concerned if there's too much rainfall. It's a catch 22 as much of Missouri has experienced big drought problems over the past few years, but if there's too much rain in early Spring, it makes it difficult for farmers to get their crops planted in the fields.
How does the Old Farmer's Almanac forecast weather so far down the road?
This legendary publication says they use solar science, climatology and meteorology all combined together in a magic sauce that somehow figures out how the sun and historic weather patterns reveal what our future precipitation and temperatures will be. If they're right about Missouri, make sure your umbrella is prepared for what Spring might bring.
