What you don't know can't hurt you or so the saying goes. This might be an exception. One of the United States 'doomsday planes' was spotted over Missouri today shortly after Russian war planes were detected off the coast of America.

As a fan of Tom Clancy novels, I love a good plot of intrigue. That's apparently what played out over the skies of America today including Missouri. I saw the first act of this drama begin with a story shared by The Daily Mail. They claimed that US military officials confirmed that Russian war planes were detected in the Air Defense Identification Zone which is neutral territory, but planes are required to identify themselves there. They didn't.

Not long after that incursion by what is believed were Russian fighters and bombers, an interesting array of planes were spotted over Missouri. That included a big refueling effort by a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker near Whiteman Air Force Base.

This is what that massive refueling plane looks like. It is used to refuel E4-B Nightwatch 'doomsday planes', fighters and bombers.

This could all be just a wild coincidence of timing. Russian war planes make an incursion near the coast of America and suddenly doomsday planes are flying over Missouri. Or, it could be a new spy novel along the lines of The Sum of All Fears playing out over our heads.
