Dog Only Wakes Up When His Owner Says the Magic Word

A man in a video going viral shows how his dog doesn't wake up to any spoken words, unless they're the "magic words."

"If I say the word C-H-I-C-K-E-N, she will wake up," he says. He goes on to spell the words 'Outside,' 'Ride' and 'Car.'

"Anything else I say, she's not waking up. Steak, beef, hamburger, peanut butter, salmon, salmon skin, bone, dog treat," he says, as his dog, Xena, keeps snoring.

"Chicken," he says, as Xena's eyes rip open like she forgot to do her homework last night.

She lays there, a bit dazed from just waking up, but then realizes what she heard, and pops her head up to look around to find out who said the word.

Her owner sits and laughs.

In this video, my dog Xena was laying with me on the couch at home after a long walk sleeping and snoring super super loud. I know that when I was trying to wake her up she only responds to a few different words if she’s in a really deep sleep," the video's description reads. "So while she was sleeping I decided to set my camera up and talk about the word that she would respond to and see if she would wake up. I did not expect her to react the way she did, it was actually hilarious and I’m so glad that I put it on video because no one would believe me unless I showed them. She loves chicken and it will get her attention at any time."
