Thanksgiving is just about two weeks away and we are officially just 5 weeks away from Christmas, so with the holidays in full swing it is time to get into the holiday spirit! And there is no better way to get into the holiday spirit then checking out all the holiday light displays, from Festival of Lights in Quincy to the Parade of Lights in Canton they are all can't miss, but there is something extra special about seeing the lights turn on at the Christmas Tree Lighting!

The Christmas Tree Lighting at the Mark Twain Boyhood home is scheduled for Saturday, November 28th at 5 pm right on 206 Hill street in Downtown Hannibal. According to their Facebook event page they say...

"Join the Mark Twain Museum as they celebrate the start of the 2020 Holiday Season with the Annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree and Boyhood Gardens...The Museum is bringing back the Salvation Army Brass Band on the Main Stage beginning at 5:00 p.m., followed by Christmas Carols led by Mark Twain and Hannibal’s Tom and Becky ambassadors. The lighting of the tree and grounds is planned to be held at dusk. The public is invited to come join in the caroling and help count down to the lighting. Attendees are encouraged to maintain social distancing and wear face masks."

They go on to say that kids are encouraged to bring homemade biodegradable ornaments to hang onto the Christmas Tree. What an amazing sounding family fun event to officially kick off the Christmas Season in the Tri-States post Thanksgiving!
