There was a time in my life that I thought I wanted to be a police officer, but I decided I didn't have the heart for it. Perhaps that was a mistake as I've just learned there's a Missouri police force that now drives sweet muscle cars and I want one.

I saw Yahoo Auto reporting on a fleet of Mustang GT's which were deployed with a special task force in the O'Fallon Police Department in Missouri. They included some video and interviews captured (no police pun intended) by KMOV out of St. Louis talking to officers and showing these sweet sweet rides.

Yahoo Auto includes the following statistics of what's happened since these muscle cars became part of the force showing a "25 percent decrease in car thefts and 18 percent drop in vehicle break-ins".

This is about as close as you can get to being Batman without throwing on a mask and a cape and finding a friend named Robin.

The report says that since the Mustang GT's hit the streets, the stealth aspect has helped them catch bad guys in the act more often since they don't look like regular police vehicles. It also says that these sweet-looking rides cost less than traditional police cars, too.

Muscle cars and fighting crime for the win.
