American Freight Appliances & Furniture Chain Suddenly Closes in Missouri
The rough year for brick-and-mortar retail stores just got rougher for one brand in Missouri. All of a sudden, they've decided to close all the locations and shut the doors forever.
Fox Business has just reported that a furniture brand that has 9 Missouri locations has suddenly declared bankruptcy and will close all of their stores across the country. It's American Freight Appliances and Furniture which according to their locator page has these 9 locations.
The report says that American Freight Appliances and Furniture's parent company Franchise Group Inc declared chapter 11 bankruptcy and has now begun clearance sales at all the Missouri stores to liquidate all the assets.
A third-party company is reportedly handling these store closing sales and, as of this writing, there is no set date for each Missouri store's closing. It will likely depend on how quickly the existing inventory lasts.
It's yet another brick-and-mortar brand that is finding itself unable to turn a profit which is interesting for a furniture store since you'd think that most would prefer to buy something they can sit on and try out first instead of relying on online reviews. That has turned out to not be the case.
