The ABWA-Quincy Charter has given out their Woman of the Year and Protégé of the Year awards. The Woman of the year was Linda Flesner of Payson. And the Protégé of the Year was Alta King of Quincy.

The Woman of the year is awarded by the chapter to a member who is a leader, volunteers a lot of time to the ABWA on a local, regional and national level, and recruits new members. Flesner, customer service representative at the Farmers Bank of Liberty, is the chapter vice president, chair of the Education Committee, a member of the Executive Board, and involved in several chapter fundraisers. Flesner has attended regional and national conferences, including the ABWA National Conference in October 2014 in Kansas City. She has been a member since April 2010.

The Protégé of the Year is awarded to a newer member who is actively involved in the chapter and regularly attends meetings. King, communications specialist for the Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce, is the editor of the bi-monthly newsletter; a member of the Executive Board, chair of the Publicity Committee, and is involved in several chapter fundraisers. She has been a member since April 2014.

“Linda and Alta have both displayed qualities that show they are leaders in our ABWA Chapter and in the community. We are very lucky to have both of them in our organization. They have truly made a difference,” said Sue McGee-Chiodini, chapter president.

American Business Women’s Association brings together businesswomen of diverse occupations in the Quincy area and provides opportunities for them to help themselves and others grow personally and professionally.
