Officially, the watch for Adams, Brown and Pike counties in Illinois and Audrain, Knox, Lewis, Marion, Monroe, Ralls, Pike and Shelby counties in Missouri runs from 6 p.m. Tuesday through midnight Thursday.

Forecasters are warning of the possibility of heavy mixed precipitation, with total snow accumulations from 6 to 9 inches and sleet accumulations around a quarter-of-an-inch.

For Hancock County, Illinois and Clark County, Missouri, their Winter Storm Watch runs from midnight Tuesday through 6 p.m. Thursday.

Forecasters there are predicting heavy snow, with the heaviest from Wednesday night into Thursday, with a total of 6 to 10 inches snow possible.

In Hancock and Clark counties, north winds of 15 to 25 miles per hour could produce blowing and drifting snow Wednesday night.

The weather service warns of difficult travel, possibly affecting the morning and evening commutes Wednesday and Thursday.

Forecasters are warning everyone that the combination of strong winds and the weight of snow and ice on tree limbs could down power lines, resulting in sporadic power outages.

All of that said, with these kinds of systems, forecasters really won't know exactly who will get what kind of precipitation and how much until it gets here.

Stay tuned.
