No matter what the old saying says, what you don't know could hurt you. There's a wildlife group that is sounding the alarm about the rise of possible bird flu cases in western Missouri and it would be a good idea to take note.

Operation Wildlife is a non-profit wildlife rehabilitation organization in Linwood, Kansas. According to a post they just shared on Facebook this week, they're seeing an alarming uptick in cases of sick birds being reported to them.

In case you can't see their message on your device, here's a snapshot of their warning about the bird flu specifically for the Kansas City/western Missouri area.

They are advising that you be aware of injured birds as they may have had incidents that led to that injury directly related to the bird flu. If there's any good news about this, it's the fact that the CDC still says that the public health risk is low and there are no reports of person-to-person spread at this time. Still, if you're in western Missouri near the Kansas City area, be aware that there are reports of sick birds in your area. Better safe than sorry.
