You would think that the tech industry would be one of the safer fields to be in, but that's proven not to be true as an electronics company in Illinois has reportedly just let 85 workers go.

This is the newest entry on the Illinois Work Net website. It says that the state of Illinois received notice of a mass layoff from KSM Electronics in Warrenville, Illinois that they would be releasing 85 workers. The reason given is "mass layoff" according to Illinois Work Net.

It states the first layoff date will be May 30, 2025.

The official KSM Electronics website says the company was acquired by the NAI Group. The statement on the website says "The KSM acquisition delivers new aerospace & defense capabilities and certifications to NAI, while also strengthening NAI’s position as a leading interconnect solutions provider for the industrial technology and medical end markets."

There is no word if these Illinois layoffs are temporary or permanent or just part of a restructuring as a result of the NAI Group acquisition. It's entirely possible that those listed as layoffs will be given opportunities at other locations or within the same Warrenville, Illinois location. Let's hope for the sake of the workers that is the case.
