The first warning was met with laughter and some disbelief, but now there's another that again says that temperatures in Illinois are about to take a deep dive and you won't have to wait long to experience it.

I have pretty thick skin, so it really didn't bother me when many laughed off the last warning I shared about temperatures plummeting in Illinois to dangerous levels. I predict that few will find this funny in about a week.

Now, the National Weather Service in Chicago is echoing what I said a few days ago. It's about to get big time cold in Illinois.

For the period of November 29 through December 5, there's a good chance that you'll see daytime highs only in the 20's and lows in the teens and that might even go lower if Illinois gets the expected snowfall around Thanksgiving. The snowpack could lead to single digit lows overnight.

NOAA's Climate Prediction Center has now put southern Illinois in a slight risk for what they term "hazardous temperatures" for the first week of December, too.

Southern Missouri is in the slight risk area also. One way or another, we're going to see late November and early December feel more like they normally do and possibly even colder. If you find that funny, expect to laugh a lot in a week or two.
