Many in Missouri and Illinois just got notified that they had received money from Verizon. How do I know this? I was one of those many and investigated to make sure it was a legitimate thing.

In my non-radio life, I am a certified computer tech and I will tell anyone that will listen to NEVER click a link even if that link claims it is giving you money. That's why when my wife received a notice tonight that we had just received money from Verizon, I was immediately suspicious.

Here's a screenshot of what we received:

I've heard many in Missouri and Illinois say they received the same notice, but is it legit?

Did Verizon really send money to many in Missouri and Illinois?

It would appear that the answer is YES.

Fast Company shared details this past year about a class action settlement . What happened was Verizon had charged customers an undisclosed administrative fee for a period of time. The lawsuit demanded customers be compensated for this unfair charge.

Unwilling to accept a third-party report, I went straight to the Verizon Class Action Lawsuit website and here's what I found.

There you have it. The settlement money going out in January of 2025 is now. The reports I've seen say that those who filed a claim may receive up to $100. For me, it was a paltry $12.15, but that's money I didn't have yesterday. So, if you received a Paypal notice, DO NOT CLICK THE LINK, but go directly to your Paypal account and you can verify if the payment really is there.
