With the passing of Robin Williams comes the question of just what is your favorite Robin William’s movie? If you said “Good Morning Vietnam” you already are aware of his role as Adrian Cronauer, the exuberant radio disc jockey. What you may not know is that there really was an Adrian Cronauer who was in Saigon working for the Armed Forces Network.

Cronauer is now 75 years old and is from Roanoke, Virginia. He was in Saigon in 1965 and 1966 and entertained the troops on the air, but, according to Cronauer, not to the extent that Williams portrayed in the movie.

Cronauer did get to meet Williams at the movie premiere in 1987. If I remember right, I believe I saw the premiere in Quincy at the old Adams Theatre.
