The 32nd Annual Budweiser/Bud Light Chili Cookoff will be held on Saturday, February 21 in Hannibal at the Admiral Coontz Armory. Up to 25 businesses, non-profit organizations and individuals will compete for cash prizes totaling $1750, plus the coveted title of “Best Local Chili.”

Doors will open to the public at 11:00 a.m. Admission is $5.00 per person. Sampling begins at noon and each participant will be given a cup and spoon to sample the various chilies. This is an adults-only event; absolutely no one under age 21 will be admitted. This year’s theme is “Cirque du Chili.” Each registered team will decorate their booth and/or dress according to the vintage circus/carnival theme for the chance to win an additional $250 cash prize for the best costume.

Games and other fun activities will be held throughout the day. San Diego theatrical circus duo Mango and Dango will perform a full slate of acrobatic and other awe-inspiring, big-tent wonders for the crowd during the event. The Hannibal Jaycees will sell adult beverages, including a wide variety of domestic and craft beers. Soda, coffee and various food items will be available for purchase from the Centennial Circle of King’s Daughters.

Proceeds from this year’s Budweiser/Bud Light Chili Cookoff will benefit the Great River Honor Flight. For more information, contact Cathie Whelan at Golden Eagle Distributing in Hannibal at 573-221-0908.
