Folklore tells us that when it comes to weather in Missouri in March, if the month begins like a lion, it will go out like a lamb. Not sure if that's true, but all indications are that energy is building up to start off next month with something significant.
The old saying about March in Missouri "in like a lamb and out like a lion" may very well come true after all based on new forecasts from meteorologists.
The trouble actually began the day before, but this marks the 72nd anniversary of a severe tornado event that was so terrible that it destroyed everything in one Missouri town except for a church and a bank vault.
There is a big difference between a weather forecast for Missouri and what a computer model shows is possible. But, if the current models turn out to be accurate, there is an extreme danger for tornadoes in much of Missouri the last week of March 2024.
This will likely sound alarming and it really kind of is. The weather radar in St. Louis, Missouri will be down for at least 2 weeks in March and there's no way to turn it on if severe weather develops.
