Chicago Air & Water Show

Now that COVID-19 has hit and Quincy has established flights to Chicago daily, my fear is after the pandemic is finally over we may never see the return of Quincy's second train.

This weekend the annual Chicago Air & Water Show will be held on the shore of Lake Michigan in Chicago. This annual event has been held each year since 1959 and is Chicago's second most popular festival with the first being the “Taste of Chicago”.

If you are heading to Chicago this weekend be prepared to hear loud noises as the Air Force Thunderbirds will be buzzing the Windy City as part of the 60th Annual Chicago Air & Water Show on Saturday & Sunday.

There is nothing more exhilarating than to be at an airshow featuring the Air Force Thunderbirds or the Navy Blue Angels. Both have announced their spring and summer schedules.

The 59th Annual Chicago Air and Water Show will return to the Windy City this Saturday & Sunday along the Chicago Lakefront. The Chicago Air and Water Show is one of the largest free admission events of its kind, the show headliners include the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights and the U.S. Navy Leap Frogs.

Two years ago I wrote a scathing article criticizing the government for cancelling all of the Air Force Thunderbirds and the Navy Blue Angels performances in 2013. Well, after that year off due to government cutbacks, the Air Force Thunderbirds and the Navy Blue Angels resumed their high flying acrobatic shows all over the United States last year and are ready again this year.
