Southern Illinois Plant to Close Resulting in Dozens of Layoffs

I don't think I can recall a year where so many manufacturing facilities closed in such a short period of time. The newest alert comes from a southern Illinois plant that will close according to a notice to the state resulting in dozens of layoffs.

The newest submission to the Illinois Work Net site was a notice posted on Friday, February 14, 2025 in regards to Schirm USA in Benton, Illinois. The notice says the plant is closing.

The document submitted to the state of Illinois says that 34 will be laid off effective April 1, 2025.

The Schirm corporate site says they  are "Pioneering agrochemical innovation with advanced formulation, granulation, and storage solutions for superior crop protection."

The Schirm USA site says their primary facility is in Ennis, Texas and that the Benton, Illinois plant was a satellite facility. There's no word if those let go by the Benton, Illinois plant closure will have an opportunity to transfer to the Texas location.
