New Streaming Series Explores Legend of Dragon in Missouri Ozarks
I've lived in Missouri most of my life and thought I had heard of every legend in the state. I've learned I was wrong thanks to a new streaming series that explores the legend of a dragon in the Missouri Ozarks. Oh, and this will probably start a vicious argument, too.
This epiphany about a hypothetical dragon in the Missouri Ozarks came about thanks to a streaming series on the Max app called Lost Monster Files. IMDb explains that the show is about "cryptozoologist Ivan Sanderson's unexplained cases using his lost archive, recent encounters, and modern technology to uncover the truth behind mysterious beasts". Sure, that's what it is.
It was episode 6 of this new series that explored the Cave Dragon of Arkansas Missouri. It seeks a legendary creature known as the Gowrow which is a species of Dragon.
The Gowrow was first reported on by the Arkansas Gazette on January 31, 1897. The Encyclopedia of Arkansas says this was "a creature twenty feet in length with two tusks, large webbed feet ending in claws, a row of short horns along its back, and a long thin tail with a blade on the end".
I won't spoil what the show discovered, but I will say that they did uncover a "dragon" of sorts.
So let's address the razorback elephant in the room. While most of the investigation happens in the northern Arkansas part of the Ozarks, it's an accepted fact that both Missouri and Arkansas share the Ozarks and considering that Mizzou just beat Arkansas this weekend, Missouri is now rightfully claiming the Ozarks as all its own.
Let the accusations begin. I'm gonna go back to watching the show about the Gowrow in the Missouri Ozarks.
