Should I Watch These Classic Movies?

Having recently watched the Academy Awards, I am reminded of several classic movies that I have never seen. I will list them below.

Here is what frightens me about watching them today: will I be entertained, or will I be wasting my time. Do these movies stand the test of time? This fear came to light recently when I saw The Graduate for the first time. I thought that movie was so dumb. I hated it! I will never get that hour and a half of my life back.

Don't get me wrong - there are several classic movies that I absolutely love (thanks, Ma!):

• Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House - 1948, starring Cary Grant & Myrna Loy
• Mr. Roberts - 1955 (pictured above), starring Henry Fonda, James Cagney, William Powell, & Jack Lemmon
• P.T. 109 - 1963, starring Cliff Robertson as Lt. JG John F. Kennedy
• The Odd Couple - 1968, the first movie adaptation of the Neil Simon play starring Jack Lemmon & Walter Matthau
• The Apartment - 1960, another Jack Lemmon film. Winner of 5 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. Also starring Shirley MacLaine & Fred MacMurray. (If you have not seen this movie, find it somewhere and watch it!)

Here is my list of classic movies that (believe it or not) I have never seen:

• North By Northwest - 1959, starring Cary Grant
• Vertigo - 1958, starring James Stewart
• Gone With The Wind - 1939, starring Clark Gable
• Psycho - 1960, starring Anthony Perkins
• Breakfast At Tiffany's - 1961, starring Audrey Hepburn
• Casablanca - 1942, starring Humphrey Bogart
• Some Like It Hot - 1959, starring Marilyn Monroe

Here is where your opinion matters. Please let me know which of these you have seen, and whether I should spend my time watching them. What are some of your favorite classic movies that I did not list here? Which ones do stand the test of time?
