Big Wind in Missouri & Illinois Next Week Could Mean Big Danger
It's almost certain to be severely windy in many parts of Missouri and Illinois early next week and that could mean a big problem. That's why the National Weather Service is already warning about possible dangers after the weekend is over.
The newest weather advisory as the National Weather Service in St. Louis, Missouri looks ahead to next week includes cautionary words about next Tuesday specifically. There is high confidence that wind gusts in Missouri and Illinois will far exceed 30 mph and likely closer to 40 mph.
There are three factors that have the National Weather Service concerned:
- Dead Fuel Moisture
- Wind Speed
- Relative Humidity
That's why they're already saying there is a likelihood that Tuesday, October 29, 2024 will once again include an elevated fire danger. The only reason there isn't already an official warning is the humidity for early next week is still an uncertainty. Recent weather patterns that are similar to what is forecast for Tuesday have included low humidity and if that repeats, you can expect a fire danger advisory.
The weather briefing says there is expected to be another update this weekend once the forecast for early next week becomes more clear. Until then, they advise that you plan NOT to burn next Tuesday unless conditions change.
