Thousands See Fireball Over Missouri, But It Was NOT a Meteor
One of the most visible fireballs of the year was seen over nearly all of Missouri Saturday night, but it wasn't what it appeared to be. Many thought they were witnessing a meteor burning up in the atmosphere, but it was something else entirely.
The American Meteor Society shared hundreds of reports of a fireball that was seen over Missouri and also Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana and as far south as Texas.
There were many videos of the object captured, but one of the best was from Luke Matheson on the American Meteor Society website.
If it wasn't a meteor burning up over Missouri, what was it?
Forbes is reporting today that it was a Chinese satellite that thousands saw burning up in the atmosphere. Here's another video of the object captured from a different angle.
