Someone Won $100K at This Illinois Gas Station—and Doesn’t Know

It's been more than two weeks now since someone strolled into a gas station in Illinois and walked out with a ticket now worth a stunning $100,000. The search is on for this person who is now much richer, but has no idea apparently.

The Illinois Lottery says that on January 5, 2026 someone picked up a Powerball ticket at 5951 E Rockton Road in Roscoe, Illinois

That Powerball ticket turned out to be a winner - a big winner. This mystery person now needs to come forward and claim their $100,000 prize, but there's a significant problem. According to the Illinois Lottery's Unclaimed Prizes page, the winner's identity remains a mystery. If you're not familiar with where this Speedway is located, it's just to the west of I-90 in Illinois which means a truck driver passing through may have picked up a ticket on impulse and then went on his/her merry way not thinking to check the ticket to see if they won. That's one reason I like sharing stuff like this because I'd hate to think that a hard-working person misses out on a nice surprise payday that could make 2026 less of a struggle.
