Missouri Mystery Winner Soon to Forfeit Nearly $250K Prize
Earlier this year, someone in Missouri made an impulse decision that paid off for them big time. The problem is they don't seem to be aware of their good fortune (literally) and they'll soon be forfeiting their huge win if they don't come forward soon.
Does this gas station in the Kansas City area look familiar to you?

This is the BP station located at 13015 State Line Road in Kansas City, Missouri and it's the location where someone stopped on June 23, 2026 and picked up a Show Me Cash ticket. The Missouri Lottery says someone stopped at this BP station and picked up a ticket with the numbers 5-13-14-22-37 which is now worth $246,000! There's just one big problem. It's listed on the Missouri Lottery Unclaimed Prizes site and the deadline for the winner to claim it is less than 90 days away from the time of this writing.
How much take home cash would a $246,000 Missouri Lottery prize be worth after taxes?
Here's the breakdown from NerdWallet:
- Gross Prize: $246,000
- Federal Withholding (24%): $59,040
- Missouri State Withholding (4%): $9,840
- Total Initial Deduction (28%): $68,880
- Initial Take-Home Cash: $177,120
That's a big tax cut, but I don't know anyone who wouldn't love a $177K surprise payday. Would sure be a terrible thing for someone to have the winning ticket that's been lying around since June and not know it. Is it you?
