The Quincy Police Department will be conducting a local ceremony Tuesday (May 15) in conjunction with National Peace Officer Memorial Day.  The ceremony will be held at the Quincy City Hall Plaza between 7th and 8th Streets on Maine and will begin at 8:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend. The Police Department will honor all fallen police officers during the ceremony.

In recognition of the day, the American Flag will be flown at half-staff with the flag being lowered by the Quincy Police Honor Guard.

In the calendar year 2017, some 135 police officers lost their lives protecting and serving their communities around the nation. As of May 7 of this year 36 law officers have died in the line of duty.

In the event of rain, the ceremony will be conducted indoors in the City Council Chambers.
