Someone at this Illinois Truck Stop Just Won $600,000

It probably seemed like a very trivial decision at the time. Someone this weekend in Illinois stopped by a truck stop and left not knowing that they had suddenly become $600,000 richer. Was it you?

According to the Illinois Lottery's Unclaimed Prizes page, someone on Saturday, June 14 stopped by this gas station in Illinois and picked up a Lucky Day Lotto ticket.

This is the Red Rooster truck stop located at 1402 S West Street in Olney, Illinois. It's located just off of I-50 in southeastern Illinois. The Illinois Lottery says that whoever picked up that winning ticket has not come forward yet which means they're either still trying to recover from the shock of winning an instant fortune or they don't realize they won and that ticket is just sitting around somewhere.

The good news is that the winning person has one calendar year to step forward and claim their prize before it's forfeited. The bad news is the more time that passes between now and the moment they realized they have the winning ticket the more likely it will be misplaced. Let's hope the person who won the life-changing money is just being prudent in getting all their ducks in a row before they raise their hand and say yes to success.
