We're still fairly early in 2025, but already a slew of organizations have let workers go. The latest is a non-profit in Illinois that gave 75 workers notice that they were next in a mass layoff event.

The Illinois Work Net Center site just revealed the latest WARN notice which comes from an organization that is non-profit that "conducts behavioral and social science research and delivers technical assistance" according to their official website. It's the American Institute of Research which has just alerted the state of Illinois that they are letting 75 people go in a mass layoff.

The notice states that this layoff will be effective as of May 9, 2025.

There is no additional reason given for the layoff. Science is reporting that this mass layoff in Illinois is connected to recent government cuts in this area that monitored education in the region. There's also concern this could adversely affect students with disabilities.

If there is clarification released about why this mass layoff was necessary, this article will be updated with more details. As it stands, it's yet another instance in Illinois in 2025 where many will now be on the lookout for new employment.
