Missouri Big Lots to Be Replaced by Ollie’s Bargain Outlet
What's old is new again. What used to be a Big Lots in Missouri that closed down permanently is about to be taken over by a completely different brand that should be opening soon.
Starting late last year and carrying over into 2025, Big Lots closed approximately 500 locations including this one in Missouri.
This is 4201 S Noland Road in Independence, Missouri. What used to be a Big Lots is about to become an Ollie's Bargain Outlet according to a new report from USA Today.
What is an Ollie's Bargain Outlet?
Their moniker is that they sell items around 70% below "the fancy store prices". What's happening in Independence, Missouri is happening in many other parts of America, too. The USA Today story said that Ollie's is taking over around 25 buildings that were previously occupied by Big Lots. Ollie's claims to specialize in "the thrill of the find" and says you'll find "real bargains" in their stores.
Will Ollie's be able to succeed in Missouri where Big Lots did not? We'll find out soon enough as they've already started opening stores in these old Big Lots locations. More shopping options is always a good thing. This is much better than buildings sitting empty in so many Missouri places.
