10 Most Stolen Vehicles in Missouri Includes Big Surprises
There are many facts of life I do not understand and this is one of them. The vehicles that thieves target most often in Missouri are choices that make no sense to me. I predict there are several cars and trucks that are stolen most frequently that you would not expect either.
When I think of desirable cars a thief would want, this is what I think of
According to the most recent data by the NCIB, this type of muscle car is NOT the type of vehicle stolen most often in Missouri. Here's their top 10 list of the vehicles in the state that get ripped off the most:
10 - 2008 Chevrolet Impala
9 - 1997 Honda Accord
8 - 2004 GMC Pickup
7 - 2007 Toyota Camry
6 - 2020 Nissan Altima
5 - 2015 Jeep Cherokee
4 - 2020 Chevrolet Malibu
3 - 2001 Dodge pickup
2 - 2005 Chevrolet pickup
1 - 2004 Full-size Ford pickup
Why are older vehicles the ones stolen most often in Missouri?
There is some simple math involved here which is probably why I didn't understand it at first. First, many of these older pickup trucks remain very much in demand and hold their value extremely well which makes them a prime target for vehicle thieves in Missouri. You also have to consider that there are simply more of these older vehicles on the road in Missouri than there are new models. That means there are more of them to hypothetically steal. Personally, I think there are too many wanna-be thieves who watched "Gone in 60 Seconds" too many times. No, Memphis Raines was not in Missouri.
