If you had to guess what the most rattlesnake-infested area in Missouri was, what would you say? It's more than likely not where you think as it's a place most have never heard of, but it's home to thousands of rattlesnakes.

There's a brand new ranking that was just shared today by World Atlas listing the 5 most rattlesnake-infested areas in Missouri. Without looking, would you guess Lake of the Ozarks? Nope, it's not that one. What about the Mississippi River? Not that either. Or,  maybe it's the Missouri River? Surely, there are plenty of snakes there, but it's not #1 in Missouri for rattlesnakes apparently.

What place in Missouri has the most rattlesnakes?

Answer - Squaw Creek, 3200 acres that's home to Massasauga rattlesnakes.

What's interesting about Squaw Creek is most know it as the favorite hangout for migratory birds. It's that also, but if you desire to see a rattlesnake, you can find them there nearly everywhere you look. Just don't look too hard and make sure to watch where you step. This is one reptile that you don't want to surprise. Rattlesnakes are normally not aggressive to humans, but will strike if they feel threatened and you won't hear too many shakes of that infamous tale before you'll regret getting too close.
