One time I tried to draw a pirate in the back of a magazine to see if I qualified for art school. Breaking news, I didn't make the cut. Many do, however, and attend a university in Illinois that's both the most expensive and artsy. Oh, and it's technically not-for-profit also.

I still don't understand the concept of a university in Illinois that is both most expensive and not-for-profit. That's probably because I never graduated from a university to become smart enough to get it. According to a new ranking by 24/7 Wall St., there's one university in Illinois that costs more than any other and the result surprised me.

What is Illinois' most expensive university?

They say it's the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

How much does it cost to attend there? Here are the numbers shared by the ranking for this Illinois school:

  • Avg. annual net price, 2021-22: $53,923
  • Avg. student loan to full-time first-time undergraduates, 2021-22: $10,796

When I was a kid, my mom (who apparently had hoped for a daughter, but didn't get one) had me paint ceramics. That's as close as I got to art school other than a parrot I also drew in the back of a magazine. I envy those who are talented (and rich) enough to attend schools like this one in Chicago. Do I understand how the most expensive university is also not-for-profit? No, I do not.
