Forecasters: Missouri Could Get Way More Snow This Winter
We have officially entered the time period where it's very possible you can get an accurate winter outlook. There are several new ones, and if they're correct, Missouri could see a lot more snow this winter especially in parts of the state.
I blame this on the fact that it's just become October this week, but I came across not one, but two major sources who have issued their winter outlooks. AccuWeather is one of them and they think that the southern half of Missouri will get blasted with snow this winter.
They also predict that nearly all of Missouri will see below-average temperatures. AccuWeather also is predicting an earlier than typical snowpack which may play a part in those frigid temperatures.
AccuWeather isn't the only source that thinks Missouri will see a snowier and colder winter either
Snowbirdbob has also issued their winter outlook this week. They are predicting that nearly all of Missouri will see above-average snowfall, but especially the southern quarter of the state. They said this:
"Above Average Snowfall: Extends from the Ozarks through the Mid-South, southern Midwest, and into the Mid-Atlantic, as well as portions of the Appalachians and Northeast."
These are not the first and definitely won't be the last winter forecasts we'll see this season, but now that we're officially in October, I would start putting much more credence on these forecasts since models are close enough to really begin to show what the upcoming season will be like. Since I hate snow shovels, I'm hoping they're wrong, but prepare for the worst in Missouri and hope for the best.
