It was supposed to be sunny over most of Missouri today, but instead everyone in the state has awakened to an orange haze which is the result of hundreds of Canadian wildfires that continue to burn out of control.

As I was checking out the conversations on the Missouri sub-Reddit this morning, I noticed that someone had shared an animated map showing the progression of wildfire smoke originating from Canadian wildfires completely enveloping Missouri skies.

This wildfire smoke over Missouri is more than just a hazy view of the sun. It's also drastically affecting air quality in some areas making it difficult for anyone with breathing problems to spend much time outside.

It remains to be seen how long this wildfire smoke will continue to linger. I would imagine that will depend on how quickly (or not) Canadian fire crews can get the current wildfires contained and put out. I would be surprised if this doesn't continue to be an issue for the next week or two.
