This wild horse herd is one of the many reasons why that part of Missouri has just been named one of the top 5 wild animals hotspots in the state by World Atlas. The National Park Service says they don't know for sure the origins of the wild horses of Shannon County, Missouri in the Echo Bluff State Park area. The locals say that these wild horses have been in that part of the state since the 17th century. They are breathtaking to behold.
The Missouri Wild Horse League is an active group that works to protect these wild animals, but their Facebook group is private. This organization is one of the reasons why this wild horse herd has been able to survive and prosper in Missouri for generations.

Atlas Obscura says there are really 4 wild horse herds in this part of Missouri, but their exact location isn't shared often for the protection of the animals. If you're traveling near Eminence, Missouri, though, don't be surprised if you see these beautiful animals.
