The state of Missouri has been notified that a tire distributor that began doing business 90 years ago plans to lay off 143 workers starting in April.

The Missouri Jobs site has just posted an alert that a mass layoff of workers is coming in April. Community Wholesale Tire Distributors. Inc. sent the state of Missouri a WARN notice alerting authorities that 143 workers were expected to be laid off starting on April 10, 2026 at the following locations:

According to the WARN notice, there are many union workers that will be impacted by these layoffs including those represented by Automotive, Petroleum, Allied Industries and Airline Employees Union and Teamsters Local No. 618.

The Community Wholesale Tire Distributors website says the company spans 3 generations of family and has been in business for 90 years. It states that the company has 5 locations including Kansas City, Missouri, Peoria, Illinois and Cedar Rapids, Iowa along with the 2 Hazelwood, Missouri location impacted by the layoffs. There's no indication that any of the other facilities will be affected. There's also no reason provided in the WARN notice about why this mass layoff in Hazelwood is necessary. The Missouri Jobs site shows that this brings the total number of workers laid off already in 2026 to 392.
