Missouri Warns to Look Out for this Invasive Plant Right Now
If you have a yard in Missouri, there's something you should do as soon as you possibly can. There's an invasive plant that is hard to spot during the growing season, but easy to see right now and it can be real trouble if it literally takes root.
The Missouri Department of Conservation just shared this video on their social media platforms this week. It's a warning about something you need to look for in your yard and you'll also see it along roadways.
The plant they're talking about it teasel. It's easier to spot in Missouri before Spring growing kicks in, but is difficult once it blends in to the rest of the non-invasive plants. This is what teasel looks like when it's new. Easy to spot along the ground.
As the state of Missouri says, it's invasive and thorny. They say that 1 plant can release up to 2,000 seeds which means it can spread like wildfire. Once it takes root, it takes the resources of the native plants in Missouri and can wreck an area.
The problem is so troublesome in Missouri that cultivating teasel is illegal.
Look for the problematic invasive plant now in Missouri before everything's green and it's too late.
