I drive on a major Missouri highway every day and I've lost track of how many terrible truck accidents I've driven by. That's one reason why a recent ranking showing that Missouri is suddenly one of the worst states for tragic truck accidents is surprising, but definitely not shocking.

This truck accident statistics for 2024 was shared not that long ago by T. Madden and Associates. Their map shows Missouri has quickly risen to near the top of one of the worst lists you want to see if you're an over-the-road trucker.

There are 3 different types of data that show Missouri has a big problem when it comes to truck accidents:

• Number of truck accidents that result in fatalities
• Number of truck accidents that have injuries

Missouri is #3 in America now for the number of truck crashes. When it comes to truck accidents with injuries, Missouri is #5. That results in the Show Me State being one of the most dangerous states for truck drivers.

I have a friend who lost his life driving is semi-trailer truck. I have many family members who have also spent their careers driving trucks including my father-in-law who logged more than 3 million miles. It's terrifying to know that my home state is now becoming known for being a dangerous crossroads for truck drivers. Let's hope this is one trend that begins to change for the better and soon.
