Missouri Closes Pigeon Hill Ranges, No Timeline Given
Well, this was sudden. The state of Missouri has closed popular shooting ranges at Pigeon Hill and no vehicles are even allowed beyond the front gate.
I don't want to unnecessarily add detail where there isn't or read too much into this, but I was surprised to see the Missouri Department of Conservation post a notice on their site today that there is an absolute (albeit temporary) closure of the shooting ranges at Pigeon Hill Conservation Area. If you look at the details posted on the official website for that Missouri conservation area, you'll see this.
Why are the Pigeon Hill Conservation Area shooting ranges closed?
It's unclear as of the date of this writing if this is a routine maintenance project or if there has been an incident. I won't speculate. All I know is that if you planned on visiting this popular shooting range over the Memorial Day weekend, you can't. The Missouri Department of Conservation does say the closure is temporary and that you are welcome to check the status of their site to see if there are changes. As of now, it's a no go for target practice in this Missouri place although there are many other options.
